The Indonesian Commission on Child Protection (KPAI) has called for a
ban on several dangerous video games, which attributing them to the cause of
violent behavior among students in the country. There are 15 games listed to “dangerous
game” for children based on the decision
of KPAI. World of Warcraft, Call of Duty, Point Blank, Cross Fire, War Rock, Counter
Strike, Mortal Kombat, Future Cop, Carmageddon, Shelshock, Raising Force, Atlantica,
Conflict Vietnam, Bully, Grand Theft Auto. I don’t really aggre with this
statement. Indonesian Commission on Child Protection should not blame
the game for students mischief.
The Indonesian Commission
on Child Protection (KPAI) didn’t seem
to understand actualy the game developers already make an age rating limit specified
for every game they make. Even our Communication and Information
Committee (Kominfo) already proposed rating system, Kominfo has released the
Draft Regulation of the Minister of Communication and Information (RPM) about
the classification of Interactive Electronic Games, but KPAI rejected to
approve it.
The banned games are not
even games for kids. Those Indonesian Commission on Child Protection (KPAI)still
think games are exclusively for kids. It seems they don't even understand the
concept of Rating System. Actually, that “banned game” was intended to be played
by adults, not for children. Adults people are more able to understand the
contents of the game.
I think the policy of KPAI not guarantee will reduce the number of mischief, many other factors that affect the child's misbehavior. And video game? I think is not a have a big impact to it. In the other hand, there’s a lot benefit of playing video games, scientists are discovering games in moderation may actually improve—not strain—your vision. In one study, 10 weeks of play was associated with a greater ability to discern between different shades of grey. Another had participants try to play games using only their “lazy” eye, with the “good” one obscured. Those players showed significant, sometimes normalized improvement in the affected eye, and video games also usefull to reduce some stress, playing video games way better to reduce a stress rather than committing a crime.
So its not really the fault of the video game that made delinquency, it depends on children itself and the teaching methods of their both parents, I think the video games isn’t a main problem, I think meaningless soap operas and variety shows are the main problem that plagued my country's society. So, the things like that are supposed to be banned, not a game are not even for kids. We have to put aside negative thoughts on the video game, There are still many to fix, not just the KPAI, but also our society mentality.

BalasHapusparents should be able to oversee the development of the children and teach them to differentiate between which are good or not. because many children go to internet cafes just to play games.
BalasHapusI agree because games can also increase knowledge for children
BalasHapusI think the most important thing here is the role of parents to always keep an eye on what games are played by their children.
BalasHapuseven though KPAI doesnt understand abt esrb rating or else. i think it goes back to the parents who always monitoring their own child. And i agree abt the opinion in last paragraf. mischievousness doesnt came from games. everything in game is structured, and esrb rating is very important to known by everyone including child's parents
