The unemployment rate in Indonesia increased by 320 thousand inhabitants to
7.56 million people in August 2015. The increase in the number of unemployed
persons occurred in graduate school (SMA) and the Diploma or University.
"But increased was in high school education level of 9.55 percent to 10.32
percent. Qualification Vocational High School (SMK) also rose from 11.24
percent to 12.65 percent, Diploma I / II / III of 6,14 percent to 7.54 percent
and university education rose to 6.40 percent from 5.65 percent, "said
Suhariyanto, Jakarta. This last decade, however, has started to
show that four years
of college immediately after high school may not be the best option for every
student out there. Today, we’re going to look at the pros and
cons a young man should consider before deciding to enroll in a four-year
university.
Not all schoolars have decent work. The answer is
that many of the computer engineers at Google have spent years outside of the
classroom honing their skills at programming languages like C++, Java, Python
and Ruby on Rails. Many of them began as amateurs, in their bedrooms, basements
and middle school computer labs. With years of practice, they’ve developed enough
skills that they don’t need a piece of paper to show that they can do the job.
They’ve already proved it in the programs and applications they can create. And
one of the biggest and most prestigious technology companies in the world pays
them accordingly. It’s time that more people explore options other than a
four-year degree. According to
a new report by the Brookings Institution, 1 in 10 jobs in the United States is a STEM
(science, technology, engineering and math) job that doesn’t require a
bachelor’s degree. Those jobs, on average, pay about $53,000 per year.
They can be held with a community college degree or a certificate from any
number of specialty schools that teach computer skills. According to the
popular career website Indeed.com, the average salary in New York City for a
junior developer of Ruby on Rails, currently a very popular programming
language, is anywhere from $70,000-$100,000.
I once asked one of the admins of large enterprises whose main office is in italy. I asked "whether a college degree required by a company such as yours?" and she replied "exactly what we need most is someone who is experienced in working, and people are willing to learn and work together with other employees, such as at the example I, I prefer people without a degree to become my secretary than those with a degree, because it will be difficult for me to organize people with degrees, will be hard for me to change the knowledge that he gained from his title ". Also, college doesn’t necessary to grow your mind. Attending college isn’t necessarily the mind-expanding endeavor it’s always been made out to be. While it’s assumed you’ll be a better critical thinker, problem solver, philosopher, etc., those benefits don’t automatically accrue simply by sending in your tuition check. One study from 2011 found that about half of college students see no improvement in their problem solving, reasoning, or writing skills in their first two years, and over a third see no improvement during the entirety of their college experience
But, you will probably make more
money. Let’s face it: most of us want to make money, and making more money is
often a good thing. According
to Simply Hired, the average salary for a college graduate is $46,000, but the
average is $32,000 for those with a high school diploma. Obviously, more
money is often a plus, and although colleges can be expensive, many people feel
that having debt is reasonable if it leads to a better paying job. Although
student loan debt can be crippling, if you make more money, you should have
more money to pay off that debt. When your debt is paid off, you will be able
to use the extra income for discretionary spending. Plus, although student
loans are common, some students are able to go to college on scholarship, or
are able to work while attending school and avoid loans all together.
Some companies require college degree. You can certainly start at a company and work your way up, and you may be able to achieve the career you hope for. However, many high-level jobs require at least an associate’s degree. Even if you are able to move up in the company, some jobs will still be out of your reach without a degree. Depending on this position, you may be required to obtain a degree even if your experience far surpasses workers coming in with a degree. In addition to specific jobs within a field requiring a degree to move forward, many specific careers also require a specific degree. There are certainly excellent jobs that you will not need a degree for, but certain positions (like most teaching jobs, nursing jobs, and so on) will require formal training. If you want to have a career in one of these fields, you will have to earn the necessary degree. Even if your field doesn’t require a degree, sometimes obtaining one will still help you be more qualified than other candidates
However, I also asked, "then why should I go to college?", she
replied, "for my company, actually college degree just for formalization,
my company did not see from the aspect of a college degree. However, if you are
in college, you should just continue your course because one day would have
been useful ". from some info that I got, the title here is useful for
advancement/ promotion, pride and also of course to get a job. but will we will work hard
for it? then, what is your decision? How do you choose your future? it's your
decision......

I'm in one opinion with that, actually the most important thing is about inside ourself. college is not about academy but there should be many things to learn especially learn the moral value and build good character
BalasHapusI think a college degree is necessary because to have a college degree we have a higher grade above are only high school graduates
BalasHapusi think it's all go back to ourself then. who's we wanna be or what's we gonna do. degree isn't a guarantee to someone to success then. but, our seriousness to be success that determine our future. so , make a good decision to make a better future.
BalasHapusI guess for distinguishing course that there is value in a success
BalasHapusI think a college degree is important, but even better if accompanied by skills if only to have a college degree does not guarantee a person to be a successful person
BalasHapustoday many people who do not have a degree but can be successful
