Indonesia Next Generation Need Bela Negara Training!

         

From total population of Indonesia reached 254.9 million people and 28% of them are young people that are also our future generation. Even though the number of them are many, but the level of awareness, discipline and love of their homeland to defend the country which is Indonesia is still lacking. They consider that to defend this country is only the responsibility of the military job. To decrease this, the young Indonesian civilians should be conscripted or called Bela Negara training.

          The first reason for young people are obliged to take Bela Negara training is for a mental revolution. Today, our young generation begin to be poisoned by the values ​​of foreign ideologies, such as liberalism, capitalism, socialism, communism, and fanatical religious sects, militant and radical. They also begin to make groups of people for political interests of certain political elite, then they are oriented to the values ​​of individualism, consumerism and materialism. Politically, it needs a revolution in their mental by taking Bela Negara training to defend the country. As we know that to produce a strong young generation who are capable of promoting Indonesia, this revolution can change their negative states that have been entrenched by young people to a positive direction. Thus, the mental revolution can be done by developing their good character as youth and their quality in a society. Not only the family but also the government should take a part in facilitating them by this Bela Negara Training.

          The second is finding the national identity, then Indonesian people should have a high nationalism to the country especially for the young generation. By the time many young people who do not understand or misunderstand of the meaning of nationalism. For example, just a warning-day of national holiday is only meant as a ceremonial and entertainment without building their sense of nationalism inside their minds nowadays. The other examples are the loss of a sense in loving our domestic products. It is because of many foreign products come to Indonesia and they completely forget of their identity as a part of Indonesian civilians. They tend to imitate the western culture to be a part of their lifestyle which is regarded as the role model of civilian modernization. Lots of western culture and ideology that come into Indonesia that give negative impacts. Then, this ideology is accepted so easily by our Indonesian people. So it will happen an acculturation or even the disappearance of the culture and personality of the people who should have the identity of Indonesia.

          A third reason is to foster patriotism. The attitude of brave, unyielding and self-sacrifice by putting national aspects above their personal and group interests is the implementation of patriotism. However, this generation have less patriotism feelings. For example, there are many high level crimes which are committed by juveniles. The other is the lack of respecting the heroes who are still living today. Those people who had sacrificed everything for our independence only receive unpleasant compensation in the rest of their time. Our young generation only think about what the country has given to them instead of what they have done to the country. Because of this selfishness, our youth demand their rights more than their obligations as citizens. This attitude results many disadvantages to us like our national defense will be weak and can be easily attacked by outsiders. Indonesia will re-colonized in terms of mentally and ideology colonized. That is why our nation should be able to grow the spirit of patriotism to the next generation.

From the three reasons above, we can see why compulsory military or Bela Negara training should be implemented by young generation in Indonesia. Maybe, there are still some people who think that conscription is just a waste of time and effort, but this training will help us to make a mental revolution inside of us, an increase of the spirit of nationalism and patriotism to nurture the soul of young people. Because of that, we must support the movement of compulsory military or Bela Negara training for the young generation that are our successor to the nation!
